As the U.S. presidential campaign enters its final two months, President Barack Obama finds himself with a narrow lead, hoping that his opponent, Republican candidate Mitt Romney, does not suddenly become an inspiring campaigner; that no new bad economic news hits; and that there are no events in the foreign policy arena that create problems for his administration.

Searching the internet and looking through the blogs and commentaries to the articles of the Western press I’ve found out that some of bloggers describes Russian people and politicians irrational, overwhelmed with prejudices. The main cause of this opinion is a serious lack of comprehensive, undistorted and actual data in the West about our country and society. I remember my American friends asked me in 1999 whether the main reason of many “odds” which they faced in Russia was “a mysterious Russian soul” or “an old Russian tradition”. Like all myths the myth of Russian irrationality is still alive.
