John Beyrle awarded 65th Victory Day Anniversary Medal
US Ambassador to Russia John Beyrle was awarded in a ceremony on Wednesday the «65th WW2 Victory Anniversary Medal» for the major contribution to the preparation of the jubilee events, the RF Foreign Ministry reported. According to the ministry, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov held a meeting with the American diplomat on Wednesday.
Aside from the award, Ryabkov discussed with Beyrle issues of Russian-American relations and a number of certain important international problems. «They had a substantial exchange of views on the key issues of Russian-American relations and certain important international problems,» the ministry said.
Ambassador Beyrle was nominated by President George W. Bush on May 13, 2008 to be the United States Ambassador to the Russian Federation, and was confirmed by the US Senate on June 27. He arrived in Moscow to present his credentials on July 3, 2008.
